Tour 1:Schneeferner Haus, Zugspitze, Garmisch-Partenkirchen
Meeting Point: in front of building Alte Kongresshalle
Please come to the meeting point 10 min prior to bus departure
Price: 50 Euro per Person
This price includes bus transfer from Munich to Gamisch, Zugspitze and return and train to Zugspitze.

You can book and pay this optional tour in cash (no credit cards are accepted) at the registration desk on site only from 08:30 a.m. on 19.2.till 12:00 on 20.2.2018.
Registration for tour “Schneeferner Haus” is available on a first come, first serve basis.
(The Schneeferner Haus offers two tours; each tour is limited to a maximum of 20 people)

Bus departure from Munich, Alte Kongresshalle: at 08:00 a.m.
Expected arrival to Garmisch: 11:00 a.m.

*One bus is booked for 70 PAX: max.40 people going to tour “Schneeferner Haus” and 30 people going to enjoy Zugspitze on their own.

Tour Schneeferner Haus will start at 01:00 p.m.

Departure to Munich: at 04:30 p.m.
Expected arrival to Munich: 07:00 p.m./08:00 p.m.

The Environmental Station Schneefernerhaus is Germany’s highest research station, located at 2652 m just below the summit of the mountain Zugspitze (Germany’s highest mountain). It is managed by the Bavarian State Ministry of the Environment, and ten leading German research institutes have come together at the Environmental Research Station Schneefernerhaus to establish a Virtual Institute for altitude, environment and climate research.

During the tour you will get unique insights about the history of the building, the research and the daily life at the station. The station is only accessible via its own cable car, starting from ‘Sonnalpin’ at 2600 m. Sonnalpin is reachable either via the cable car Zugspitze and the glacier lift or the ‘Zahnradbahn’. Please be advised that the station is in a high alpine region: winterproof clothing, sunglasses and suncream are essential.’

Tour 2:Guided tour at DLR site Oberpaffenhofen
Depending on demand (min.15 PAX), an optional tour is offered through the German Aerospace (DLR) campus Oberpaffenhofen. During the registration process, please indicate, whether you want to participate in this tour. Entrance to the DLR site is possible with prior registration only. The DLR officers will have your name on the list of visitors. However, you still need to show your valid passport to them. So, please, have it ready. When you receive your Visitor Badge, please wear it visibly.

There will be a bus transfer to the DLR site Oberpfaffenhofen free of charge (max. 70 PAX).

Together with the site at Cologne, the DLR site at Oberpfaffenhofen is one of Germany's largest research centres. Located near the A96 motorway between Munich and Lindau, the site is home to eight scientific institutes and currently employs approximately 1700 people. The research centre's main fields of activity include participating in space missions, climate research, research and development in the field of earth observation, developing navigation systems and advanced robotics development.
